Jamaica has three international airports. Sangster International (MBJ) in Montego Bay is the main one, handling the large majority of visitor arrivals. Norman Manley (KIN) serves Kingston. Ian Fleming (OCJ) near Ocho Rios is much smaller and handles regional and private aircraft rather than long-haul flights.
For almost everyone flying in from North America, the UK or Europe, the answer is Montego Bay.

Jamaica also has domestic aerodromes including Tinson Pen in Kingston, Ken Jones near Port Antonio and Negril Aerodrome, used for internal flights and charters rather than international arrivals.

Sangster International (MBJ) in Montego Bay. It handles the large majority of Jamaica’s international passengers and has by far the widest choice of routes and the most competitive fares.
Unless you are specifically headed for Kingston, Port Antonio or the Blue Mountains, MBJ is almost certainly your airport.

Which should you fly into for Treasure Beach?
Montego Bay, in almost all cases. The drive is a similar length from either airport, but MBJ has far more routes, generally better fares, and the journey down through the centre of the island is the more pleasant of the two.
Fly into Kingston only if the fare or schedule is markedly better, or if you are combining Treasure Beach with time in the east. The drive out of Kingston is more demanding, particularly for a first-time visitor driving themselves.
Ian Fleming (OCJ) is not a realistic option unless you are arriving by private aircraft or on a regional hop.
Getting from the airport to Treasure Beach
It is a long transfer whichever airport you use, and the final stretch of road is unlit after dark.
- Private transfer — simplest, and the sensible choice on a late arrival. We arrange pickups with our own PPV-certified driver.
- Rental car — workable if you are comfortable driving on the left on rural roads. Collect it at the airport rather than trying to arrange one later.
- Route taxi — cheapest by a wide margin, but involves changes and is impractical with luggage or children over that distance.
Practical arrival notes
- Allow time for immigration and baggage at MBJ, particularly when several flights land together.
- Arrival and departure fees are normally bundled into your airfare. More on Jamaica’s tourist fees.
- Get cash or a local SIM at the airport if you want either — both are harder to arrange once you reach the south coast.
