Every visitor to Jamaica needs a passport valid for the duration of their stay, plus proof of onward or return travel. Beyond that, requirements depend on your nationality and can change.
What most visitors need
- A valid passport. Check the expiry date well before you travel — some airlines apply their own validity rules.
- Return or onward ticket. Immigration may ask to see it.
- An address for your stay. You will be asked where you are staying on arrival. We provide the villa address to guests before they travel.
- Immigration and customs declaration. Jamaica uses an online form that most travellers complete before departure. Check the current requirement close to your travel date, as the system has changed in recent years.
Visas
Citizens of many countries — including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and most of the EU — do not require a visa for tourist stays. Rules vary by nationality and do change.
Check the official Jamaican government immigration guidance, or your own country’s foreign travel advice, before you book. We are villa hosts, not immigration advisers, and we would rather you verify than take our word for it.
Travelling with children
Children need their own passports. If a child is travelling with only one parent or with someone who is not a parent, carry documentation showing consent from the other parent or guardian. Airlines and immigration officers do ask.
Worth having
- Travel insurance, particularly if you are travelling during hurricane season (1 June – 30 November)
- A photograph or copy of your passport stored separately from the original
